Swisslog are currently seeking a Technical Writer for the Software Product Management team. The position is based out of the UK and can be located remotely we are ideally looking for a native English language speaker. Our head office in the UK is based in Redditch.
The Technical Writer focuses on creating and managing content that supports a product’s lifecycle, enhances user experience, and drives product adoption and engagement. This role blends commercial content strategy with technical documentation, ensuring the content aligns with the product, market and user needs. This role will work closely with product management, R&D, customer service, consulting, and marketing teams to create, edit, and update a variety of software-related content, including user manuals, user guides, product marketing content components, product web pages, release notes etc.
What you need to succeed
- Write, edit, and manage various types of product content ensuring all content is accurate, engaging, and consistent with the brand voice.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, developers, and marketing teams to ensure content supports product features and user needs. This involves participating in product design and planning meetings and providing input on content requirements.
- Create and update end-user software documentation, including installation instructions, user guides, FAQ, online self-service channels, API and integrations specifications, proposal content and more.
- Maintain UX design system documentation to ensure single source of truth and development adherence to standards.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive glossary of terms used within the product and related documentation, ensuring all team members and stakeholders have access to a single source of truth with regular updates as the product evolves.
- Support language translations and project adaptations as a subject matter expert when needed.
- Conduct readability analysis and user research to understand the needs and preferences of the target audience. Use this information to create user-centered content that enhances the user experience.
- Optimize content for search engines (SEO) to increase visibility and drive traffic. Monitor content.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Co-Pilot). Experience with topic-based authoring, single sourcing and CCMS (e.g. MadCap Flare, Confluence, Paligo). Understanding of UX, Agile Scrum methodology, JIRA, and Web development skills a plus. Adobe Creative, HTML and CSS skills a plus
