The Senior MITS Specialist is part of Swisslog Managed Services which supports customer deployments and internal development systems. The candidate will be responsible for application server design and support on various platforms including but not limited to Kubernetes, Docker, Weblogic and Wildfly.  Key responsibilities are installation, ongoing support, performance tuning, migrations, and upgrades.  Operational support includes maintenance tasks, such as backup, recovery, and file maintenance. Supports deployment, and testing of vendor patches and software upgrades.  Supports product and project development teams to ensure compliance, compliance, and supportability of software products and IT infrastructure.  Participates in on-call support for managed systems including nights, weekends, and holidays.  Travel required as necessary.  Reports to the manager of CS Managed IT Services.  The application server administrator contributes to complex aspects of a project and supports both internal development teams and customer production deployments.

  • Completes installation, upgrades, and migrations on production systems
  • Responsible for technical operations and configuration management IAW ITILv3 framework
  • Create and maintain service design packages and as-built documentation
  • Supports cyber auditing and compliance to NIST standards
  • Establish and maintain monitoring for availability, capacity, and security
  • Provides information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing system performance and trends
  • Makes recommendations and implements improvements following change management procedures
  • Participates in troubleshooting and resolving incidents.  On-call support is required for production systems and critical test servers.
  • Participate in problem management process by completing root cause analysis

What you need to succeed

Essential

  • BS degree in engineering/computer science; OR demonstratable experience of comparable understanding    
  • 2+ years designing and maintaining containerized application support in a production environment
  • 2+ years experience with Weblogic administration in high availability environments
  • 2+ years experience with Wildfly administration in high availability environments
  • Linux and shell scripting
  • Containerization (Docker)
  • Kubernetes fundamentals (Pods, Deployments, Services, ConfigMaps, etc.)
  • Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
  • CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions,etc)
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
  • Must be available for after-hours on-call rotation
  • Demonstrated people skills    

 

Desirable

  • OCA/OCP for Weblogic
  • Wildfly, JBoss certification
  • System administration experience in Linux, AIX, and Windows
  • Database administration (Oracle, SQL Server, etc.)
  • Agile/Scrum experience  
  • Azure administration
  • Warehouse and logistics operations
  • Kubernetes / Docker
  • Experience with automated material handling software
  • Exposure to the logistics Industry
  • Understanding of warehouse management software products
  • VMware VSAN, Hyper-V, S2D, DRS, High Availability, Fault Tolerance
  • VEEAM Backup and Disaster Recovery
