We are looking for a Controls Software Engineer to join our team in Kaunas and contribute to the development and delivery of advanced software-driven automation solutions across the EMEA region.
In this role, you will work with control systems that power fully automated warehouse solutions, taking responsibility for software development across different project phases. You will be involved from early requirement discussions and concept creation through to development, testing, and commissioning on site, giving you full visibility of how your work performs in real operations.
You will collaborate closely with internal teams and customers, ensuring that control solutions meet functional requirements, quality standards, and project timelines. Alongside hands-on development, you will also contribute to technical discussions, support colleagues, and act as a key member of the engineering team.
This is a role that combines software development with real-world application, where you can take ownership and work closely with cutting-edge automation technology. You will:
- Deliver complete product solutions that are fully tested, commissioned, and documented for customers
- Take responsibility for the software engineering of control systems for fully automated warehouse systems
- Specify, design, code, and test control software
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers
- Participate in requirement discussions and create clear technical specifications
- Provide second and third level support to service and support teams
- Act as a key contributor within the team
- Represent Swisslog in internal and external meetings
What you need to succeed
We are looking for someone with a strong technical background, a hands-on mindset, and the ability to work effectively in a project environment:
- Experience programming in Siemens PLC, Structured Text according to IEC 61131 or other high-level languages such as C, C++ or C#
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics
- Practical experience in electrical or controls engineering and installation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
- Comfortable working with both software and system-level concepts
- Fluent English, both written and spoken
- Confident working independently as well as within a team
- Willingness to travel to customer sites when required
