At Swisslog, that’s where! Our teams are the heart of a world-leading Robotics company that’s harnessing the power of technology to shape the future of intralogistics. The result? We’re transforming performance and efficiency for customers across the globe, giving them the vital edge in their markets.

Make an impact

We are looking for a Controls Electrical Engineer to join our team in Kaunas and support the delivery of customer projects across the EMEA region.

In this role, you will join a highly skilled engineering team responsible for electrical hardware design and system engineering from a controls hardware perspective. Your work will start in the early project phase, where electrical concepts, hardware interfaces, installation requirements, safety-related hardware aspects, and technical constraints are clarified, and continue through detailed engineering and project execution.

You will work on a wide variety of products and project types, including light goods, pallet, cranes, monorail, and storage systems, in both new business and modernization projects.

Working closely with colleagues across engineering, project execution, commissioning, suppliers, and other internal stakeholders, you will contribute to successful project delivery and to the continuous improvement of our standards, methods, and engineering solutions.

This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who wants to combine system thinking, electrical design, and technical problem-solving in a complex automation environment.

As a Controls Electrical Engineer you will:

  • Define the hardware-related part of system engineering in the early project phase by clarifying electrical concepts, hardware interfaces, installation requirements, safety-related hardware aspects, and technical constraints
  • Design and develop electrical hardware solutions for automated systems based on customer, project, and product requirements
  • Create and maintain electrical schematics and hardware documentation in EPLAN P8
  • Develop electrical concepts for control cabinets, field wiring, power distribution, control systems, sensors, actuators, drives, and safety-related hardware
  • Define and clarify electrical hardware interfaces for control cabinets, field devices, drives, networks, and third-party equipment, specifying power, signals, wiring, connections, and documentation.
  • Prepare and maintain tender documentation for control cabinet production and electrical installation, defining scope, technical requirements, interfaces, field components, and documentation deliverables.
  • Apply relevant electrical standards and support compliance with applicable regulations and internal engineering guidelines
  • Support the development and maintenance of hardware standards, templates, specifications, and best practices for Swisslog standard solutions
  • Collaborate with customers, suppliers, project managers, software engineers, commissioning engineers, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful technical project delivery
  • Provide technical support and resolve hardware-related issues during engineering, installation, and commissioning.
  • Contribute to engineering quality by applying and further improving standards, methods, lessons learned, and repeatable engineering solutions

What you need to succeed

We are looking for someone with a strong technical foundation and a collaborative mindset:

  • Experience in electrical hardware engineering for industrial automation, machinery, material handling, or intralogistics systems
  • Practical experience with EPLAN P8 and good understanding of electrical schematics, cabinet design, field wiring, control hardware, and industrial components
  • Knowledge of relevant European standards, especially EN 60204-1 and EN 61439-1/2
  • Understanding of PLC-based automation environments such as Siemens S7 or Beckhoff TwinCAT, especially from an electrical hardware and interface perspective
  • Understanding of industrial communication networks such as PROFINET, PROFIBUS, EtherCAT, and AS-i, as well as AC drives
  • Familiarity with common engineering and documentation tools such as AutoCAD, Microsoft Visio, ALM/PLM systems, or similar tools
  • Knowledge of warehouse automation systems such as conveyors, monorails, cranes, pallet systems, or storage systems
  • A structured, reliable, and solution-oriented way of working
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken
  • A team-oriented approach, with the ability to build strong relationships and share knowledge
  • Willingness to travel within EMEA where required by project needs, approximately 10–20%
