The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for sustaining and continuously improving manufacturing processes, products, and overall production flow. The role partners closely with manufacturing, R&D, planning, sourcing, and quality to enhance efficiency, quality, safety, and manufacturability. Responsibilities include leading continuous improvement initiatives, new product introductions into manufacturing, implementing engineering changes, resolving manufacturing issues, and training manufacturing personnel.

- Safety: Assure all safety requirements are met for the entire manufacturing facility including minimization and management of all Hazardous Materials. Responsible for specifying PPE requirements for all processes as well as continuously improving ergonomics for all operations. Will serve as primary engineering representative for the safety committee.
- Manufacturing Process Development and Improvement: Lead the development of manufacturing processes that are safe, efficient, well documented, and easy to maintain. This includes the generation and maintenance of graphical based work instructions/methods sheets. Labor estimates, router enhancements, tooling fixture development and product packaging are inclusive in the manufacturing processes. Supports manufacturing teams with daily production challenges, assists with troubleshooting, and contributes to capacity analysis, line balancing, and the reduction of production bottlenecks.
- Product design manufacturability improvement: Reviews drawings, specifications, and design outputs to ensure manufacturability, cost‑effectiveness, and quality. The individual provides DFX feedback across manufacturing, cost, quality, and serviceability considerations, and partners with design engineering to enhance both new and existing products.
- Engineering Change Management: Create and champion Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) that improve our products and processes. Design and create necessary fixtures for use on factory floor increasing worker safety and efficiency. Maintains engineering workflow tasks and inboxes within PLM and SAP systems.
- Complaint Investigation and Analysis: Work closely with the Quality Manager to investigate field complaints, identify root causes, and when appropriate initiate corrective actions and close via the PDCA process.
- Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing: Lead Lean improvement initiatives involving 5S, Kaizen events, Value Stream Mapping, SMED, waste reduction, and workflow optimization. Participate in and facilitate structured problem-solving activities, including PDCA, 5 Whys, DMAIC, and other root-cause methodologies. Analyze and improve key operational metrics such as efficiency, throughput, scrap, rework, and cycle time, while reinforcing daily Lean behaviors through ongoing collaboration with production supervisors and operators.
- Training: Trains manufacturing personnel on new or updated processes, tooling, and work instructions and supports ongoing skill development while reinforcing compliance with updated documentation.
- Perform other duties, as assigned.
What you need to succeed
- Bachelor of Science degree in either Electrical, Mechanical, Software or Industrial Engineering
- Aptitude in 2D or 3D CAD modeling (Autodesk preferred)
- 5 Years as an engineer in a manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with ECN release processes using PLM/MRP systems
- Demonstrated experience in assisting in the launching of new products
- Demonstrated experience in analyzing and correcting product issues based on field data.
Desirable, but not Essential:
Prefer to have certifications or documented training in:
- Lean Manufacturing/Toyota Methods Improvement Teams
- Statistical Process Control (SPC) – Minitab experience
- PLM Systems (Windchill preferred)
- Work Instructions (Dozuki Preferred)
- Black Belt in Lean Manufacturing
- GD&T Training/Certification
Salary range for this position is $80,000 - $92,000. Salary will be commensurate with experience and skillset. We offer a comprehensive benefits package including medical / dental / vision insurance, tuition reimbursement, disability, 401k matching (up to 8%).
